Introduction
This programme leads to a Professional Certificate or Certificate in Post Compulsory Education and Training, the main recognised qualification for the post-14 sector in the UK. It can count towards Diploma and Degree programmes.
The programme will develop your knowledge and practical skills in designing, delivering and assessing post-compulsory learning programmes. It is ideal for teachers, lecturers or trainers.
The programme is offered in association with the following colleges:

All applicants to this course are required to have undergone the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure process prior to commencement of study on their chosen programme.
Applicants are also required to complete a medical pro forma.
Course Content
This part-time course is offered in three stages with a number of exit points:
PTLLS - Preparing to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector;
DTLLS - Diploma to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

Entry Requirements
Year 1 and Year 2
For the Professional Graduate route you will need a degree in the subject you plan to teach.
For the Certificate route you will need a qualification in the subject that you will teach, at least at Higher Education Level 0 or at National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 3, or an Advanced Craft Certificate or equivalent.
A minimum of 60 hours teaching in a PCET teaching context on a regular and planned basis.
Year 2
An academic, vocational or professional qualification at HE Level 0 equivalent or above.
A minimum of 90 hours teaching (these may include 20 hours from Year 1) in a PCET teaching context on a regular and planned basis.
Year 2
It is possible to enter the course with advanced standing which would require the same subject specific qualifications outlined above. In addition, advanced standing is awarded through the following:
Completion of PG/CE Years 1 and 2 plus an assessed bridging process. Other equivalent qualifications and experience may be considered on application.
In addition to the subject qualifications it is a certification requirement that all students must have evidence of achievement at NQF Level 2 in literacy and numeracy.
Additional learning support will be arranged in order to fulfil the personal literacy and numeracy demands of the course.
If you do not possess standard entry qualification, you may apply to be considered for exceptional entry, on the grounds of prior learning and experience.

Teaching and Assessment
You will be taught by methods that encourage you to reflect on your professional development and in ways which will help you to engage with relevant educational research and policy developments.
These consist of lectures, seminars, tutorials, directed learning, student centred learning, group work and independent research.
Assessment is carried out through assignments, group work, reports, seminars, presentations and observed teaching practice.

Your PG/CE (PCET) will enhance your employment and promotion prospects throughout the post-compulsory sector.
Also if you would like to continue your studies it counts towards Diploma, Degree and Masters programmes in Education.
