When is the deadline for entries?
The deadline is 5pm Friday 26 March 2010.

When are the winners announced?
Winners will be announced at the Awards Dinner, which will be held in June 2010. All shortlisted entrants will be invited to attend the Awards Dinner.

I'm not sure which category to enter, what should I do?
Speak to a Hatchery staff member for advice on which category to enter; alternatively tick the 'unsure' box on the application form. The judging panel will decide which category your business idea is best suited to.

Can staff / alumni enter any award?
Only undergraduates and graduates may enter the General Business Award, Software and Technology Award and Creative Industries Award. Only staff members may enter the Staff Award, and only alumni may enter the Alumni Award.

My business idea is a not-for-profit social enterprise. Can I enter?
Yes, social enterprises are welcome in the competition.

Do I need to write a business plan?
You do not need to write a business plan to enter the competition. However, you may find it a useful exercise for developing your business idea.

Where can I get help with my application for the competition?
Support is available from the Business Hatchery, Software Hatchery and CreativitiWorks Hatchery. Contact a Hatchery staff member for more information.

Does my business need to be trading?
Businesses can be at the idea stage, pre-start up or trading.

I entered Blueprint last year. Can I enter the same idea again?
You can only resubmit the same business if it is significantly different to the previous entry. Contact the Blueprint team on blueprint@sunderland.ac.uk / 0800 027 7455 for more information.

I'm worried about my Intellectual Property. Will my business details be made public?
The information you provide in the application form may be used by the University for publicity purposes. Any information you wish to remain confidential should be attached as an appendix to the application form and explicitly marked 'in confidence'.
