Our Faculty

The Faculty of Education and Society at the University of Sunderland is a large and diverse grouping of three separate departments. Programmes include Teacher Training for schools and Further Education, through Languages, Childhood Studies, History and English to the training of Social Workers, Community and Youth Workers and Criminology and Sociology.

The Faculty has a strong commitment to Research, Scholarly activity and Teaching excellence. Staff are involved in a variety of large and small scale research projects. These include national, regional and international collaborations and range from large externally funded projects to small-scale activities. We focus on specialised work which we tend to organise around centres which have a national and regional identity.

We welcome international students from more than 100 countries to the University of Sunderland and greatly value the cultural diversity that they bring. We want to attract the brightest and the best students to join us at the University. Our two campuses - one in the city and one on the coast - are perfectly placed to ensure a life-changing student experience.
