Our Faculty is a focus for much specialised work and we organise some of this around Centres which have a national and regional identity.

Our Sunderland Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (SUNCETT) brings together a huge diversity of teaching, training and development around the development of teachers in Colleges of FE, Adult and Community education and other post-compulsory educational settings (PCET). It is one of 11 such centres funded by the government nationally.

Our Centre for Children, Young People and Families is a joint venture with colleagues in Community Health and Social Science and is firmly aimed at the Every Child Matters policy area. The area of Equalities and Social Justice sits within this centre which captures most of our educational scholarship including several prestigious national research initiatives.

The Centre for Pedagogy will build on a tradition of research into pedagogy in all its many forms and at every stage of life and learning from the infant in arms to those in later life who are making the most of their retirement through learning.

All of these three act as a focus and planning points for aspects of the Faculty's work.  All three carry the message about our excellent teaching and scholarship into the world beyond.
