Department of Social Sciences

Our department of Social Sciences provides academic and vocational programmes serving the children, young people and families sectors.

Programmes in this department are related to Criminology, Sociology and Health and Social care; vocational programmes are related to Community and Youth Work, Social Work, Early Years Professionals and Careers Guidance.

This Department has recently established the Centre for Children, Young People and Families , which is achieving a good regional reputation. A 'Working with Young People' Foundation Degree is a recent successful addition to the portfolio.

We welcome international students from more than 100 countries to the University of Sunderland and greatly value the cultural diversity that they bring.
