Metro light railway

The Nexus Metro is a light railway service that runs across Tyne and Wear.

A typical Metro journey from the City Campus to the Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter's takes 5 minutes. A typical Metro journey from Newcastle to Sunderland takes 25 minutes.

Bus travel

A number of buses operate in the Sunderland area, including the Sunderland Connect service within the city, which is free for University of Sunderland students and staff.

Train travel

Sunderland has a busy rail service, with regular trains to London, York and Newcastle. A typical journey from London to Sunderland via Grand Central takes approximately 3 hours 30 minutes.

Air travel
