Buy a bicycle tax-free

The University is part of the national Cycle to Work scheme, which allows employees to buy a bicycle tax-free, for the purposes of travelling to work.

Staff can purchase a bicycle and cycling equipment up to the value of £1000. The cost is paid in twelve monthly installments via a salary sacrifice system.

Cycle parking at City Campus

Bicycle parking is available in the following locations:

  • Technology park (cycle lockers)
  • Murray Library
  • Design Centre
  • Fleming Building
  • The Gateway
  • The Cycle Hub, CitySpace

The Cycle Hub is a secure bicycle storage facility on City Campus, between Edinburgh Building and CitySpace.

The Cycle Hub provides secure storage for 32 bicycles and features lockers and internal CCTV. This is a locked facility. To apply for a key, email parkingservices@sunderland.ac.uk or call the Facilities helpdesk: 0191 515 3366.

Shower facilities for cyclists are available in the CitySpace changing rooms and in Darwin Building (ground floor).


Cycle parking at the Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter's

Bicycle parking is available at various locations around University Square at the Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter's.

Shower facilities for cyclists are available in the David Goldman Informatics Centre (Ground Floor) and the Media Centre (Level 2).
