Introduction
This Top-Up programme is the final year of the BSc honours degree programme in Applied Business Computing.
The aim of the programme is to enhance your career prospects in the Business IT industry. You will be educated in up-to-the-minute industry standard software, tools and techniques using current computer technology. You will also learn the high level skills which are currently in demand by employers both regionally and nationally.
This programme will build on your knowledge in developing applications, analysing business needs and developing solutions by tailoring software. You will cover a range of techniques including business systems review, business process re-engineering and integrating business and software systems.
Initial Full Exemption and CEng/CSci (Partial fulfilment) from the British Computer Society (BCS) has been given for this programme.
Course Content
The 'top-up' programme is the final year of the BSc (Hons) degree programme in Applied Business Computing. As such there will be an expectation of any applicant that they have certain key skills and knowledge that will form the grounding for this year of study.

Entry Requirements
A Higher National Diploma or Foundation Degree in an appropriate discipline with the necessary pre-requisite skills/knowledge.

Qualifications which are deemed to be equivalent to the above.

Teaching and Assessment
Teaching methods include discussion, group work, lectures, practical work, work-based learning, open learning presentations and CAL.
Assessment methods include examinations, time constrained tests, essays, multiple-choice question tests, reports, computer based assessments, presentations, demonstrations and peer assessment.
Career Opportunities
This programme is designed to equip you with the skills necessary to undertake a career in Applied Business Computing.
Graduates from the programme will be able to make an immediate contribution to an organisation in a Business IT role perhaps as a Systems Analyst, Business Process Re-engineer or tailoring common business applications to suit the needs of the organisation.
Upon completion of this programme, further study may also be possible on one of our wide range of Masters programmes.

All students of this programme are provided with free high speed Internet and email facilities as well as access to the computing equipment in the purpose-built David Goldman Informatics Centre at The Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter's.
