New course gets creative juices flowing

Creativity is on the minds of Sunderland students following the launch of a new part time post graduate course.
The University of Sunderland is offering the Creative Industry Practice course beginning next Thursday (August 30) for a 10 month period. The course has been backed by BBC Newcastle, education technology company NoTosh and design company, Corporation Pop.
Creative Industry Practice will enable students to gain practical experience in the world of the media and also provide an introduction to the industry. Skills such as making your own TV trailer, writing proposals and how to pitch ideas to industry professionals will be included on the course.
Students will also work with professionals and make their own projects as well as networking with people involved in the creative industries. Participants will spend time working on developing their ideas and pitches to briefs, they will then be given feedback on their ideas from the industry.
The University hopes the course will provide part time students with the skills and confidence to go into the workplace ready to achieve what they want in the future. Throughout the course they will attend seminars and conferences to be given a chance to create new contacts and show off their work.

The course will consist of 10 weeks contact time at the David Puttnam Media Centre at the Sir Tom Cowie Campus. The deadline for applications is Thursday August 30.
