First Year Module Choices

All students on our journalism degrees (except broadcast journalism) take a common first year, learning how to interview, research and write news, sport and features. As a News journalism student you will go on to gain expertise in reporting, design and production, media law, public affairs and shorthand. In your first year you will study the following modules:

MAC136 Writing for Journalists
MAC188 Critical Issues in News and Magazine Journalism
MAC189 Introduction to News, Magazine and Sports Journalism (A)
MAC190 Introduction to News, Magazine and Sports Journalism (B)
MAC181 Shorthand (A)
MAC182 Shorthand (B)

What you need to do: download, complete and email the form to us at adm.student-timetables@sunderland.ac.uk by Sunday 5th September.  Don't worry if you are unsure what you would like to study, please email us with any queries you may have.  Alternatively, you can ring us on 0191 515 3817 on Wednesday 1st or Thursday 2nd September when Ashleigh Little will take your details and an academic member of staff will call you back to discuss your concerns further.
