Film, Media and Cultural Studies at Sunderland
You will be taught by a lively and enthusiastic team, all of whom are actively engaged in researching the areas they are teaching. You will find they include academics with international reputations, such as Professor John Storey, Professor Shaun Moores and Professor Andrew Crisell, who are authors of some of the key textbooks in the field.
Teaching takes place in our David Puttnam Media Centre, which is one of the UK's most advanced centres for training media students. We have our own, luxury, 203 seat cinema with full HD projection, 7.1 surround sound facility.
Our teaching rooms are equipped to ensure that your exploration of film, media and culture is pleasurable as well as detailed and informed. They are fully equipped with a wide range of current audio-visual technologies, including data/video projection, all controlled by touch screen panels - and if you need time to think or a breath of fresh air, you can sit by the river or a take a short walk to the beach!
Our courses are flexible, so you also have the opportunity to study various aspects of media production in some of the best facilities in the country. Our students have industry standard facilities that are the envy of many academic establishments.

107 Spark fm
Our student radio station, 107 Spark FM, recently won a full-time, five-year community radio licence, which re-launched in September 2009.
Through Spark Fm you can gain real-life work experience in our own radio studios and be heard across the city on FM, online and around the world. Many of our graduates now work for commercial stations across the country, such as Galaxy's breakfast presenter Karen Wight.
