Fine art at Sunderland
Fine Art is studied at Ashburne House, from September 2012 fine art will be moving to newly refurbished accommodation in the city centre, The expansive facilities will include:
- Generous studio space
- Well equipped wood and metal workshops
- The Shaun project space
- Two bookable project spaces
- Digital studio with video, sound editing and screening facilities
- Large format digital printing & digital embroidery facilities
- Print-making workshops
- Extensive computer facilities Mac/PC
- Faculty Gallery
There are opportunities for outdoor working in the grounds and there are specified studios for large scale or temporary works. Each year, Level 1 students convert their studio into a gallery and present an exhibition that they curate.
Level 2 and Level 3 students have the opportunity to exhibit in venues outside the university. New Talent exhibition provides an opportunity for students to exhibit with Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art .
National and international trips are arranged each year and there are also opportunities for student exchanges overseas. Recent trips include:
