What is Journalism and PR?
With a degree in journalism you can work for a newspaper, magazine, radio, TV, online publisher, an agency providing stories for a range of publications, or go freelance and work for yourself.
Our graduates have gone on to be newspaper reporters, magazine writers and web editors, as well as specialists covering fashion, crime, entertainment, politics and sport. Others have used the media skills they have acquired to work in fashion retail, education or business.
PR graduates are highly employable and they use their skills working media relations, events management, internal communications, social media, marketing and crisis management.
Some end up working in the entertainment world promoting music, TV channels or celebrities, establishing their reputations and guiding them through times of crisis. Others work for charities, public sector organisations or campaigning bodies – like Help the Aged, councils, NHS and Greenpeace. Then there are large companies like Tesco or Marks & Spencer, who have large PR departments. And, of course, there are PR agencies who deliver exciting campaigns for a wide range of clients.
