2009
The sixth Charles Parker Day took place at the National Media Museum in Bradford on Friday 3rd April 2009 and celebrated the 90th anniversary of the birth of the Parker. Speakers included Peter Cox, author of Set Into Song, a widely praised book on the Radio Ballads, Paul Long, Mary Irwin, Gerry Harrison, Simon Elmes, the Creative Director, Documentaries and Features, BBC Radio and Jacqueline Contre of Banner Theatre.
2008
The fifth Parker Day was held on 4 April 2008 at the Miramar Hotel in Bournemouth and the fiftieth anniversary - in July 2008 - of the first Radio Ballad -
The Ballad of John Axon. Speakers included Sian Roberts, Ken Hall, Andrew Johnston, Alan Hall, Andy Cartwright, Piers
Plowright and Sean Street.
2007
The fourth Parker day was hosted in Birmingham with speakers included Ben Harker the official biographer of Ewan MacColl, Folk culture archivist Doc Rowe and documentary specialist Prof Bert Hogenkamp.
2006
The third Charles Parker Day returned to Bournemouth - speakers included Sara Parker and John Tams, who talked through the making of the six new Radio Ballads, recently broadcast on Radio 2. And Graeme Mills who shared personal insights of working with Charles on in the fifties and sixties.
2005
The second Charles Parker Day took place in Birmingham and speakers included Nancy Thumim from the London School of Economics on `Mediating ordinary people's stories' and a keynote speech from Virginia Madsen of University of New South Wales on auter documentary making since 1968.
2004
The first Charles Parker Day was held in 2004 in Bournemouth (his birthplace) on his birthday, 5 April, and included the launch of the first Charles Parker prize.
