Watch the Media video

Studying television, video and new media production at Sunderland covers all aspects of digital film and programme making for both traditional television and newer forms of media, such as the web and DVD. Whether your interest lies in writing the script, directing the crew or creating the website, studying with us will give you the opportunity to learn in a fun environment as well as the space for serious reflection.  You may prefer the teamwork involved in running the television studio or the opportunities for solo authorship in making a surround sound DVD.  Whatever your preference, we place a strong emphasis on customised, student-centred learning from a menu of practical options in some of the best facilities in the country.

It is not just the facilities that should put us at the top of your list. Having worked for organisations such as the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV, our staff combine academic reputation with professional experience. Contacts with these organisations prove useful when it comes to getting you work experience and a head start in your career.

Our students and staff have produced award-winning films and television programmes and some have been exhibited at major festivals. Watching your own work on our big cinema screen can be thrilling and we even hold our own annual awards ceremony!
