International

The University operates in around 30 countries across the world. It is particularly strong in China and Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, parts of Africa and Europe, particularly Greece.

International students make up just under 20 per cent of the Sunderland student population. The University is recognised by government and particularly the British Council for its adaptive approach to the international market.

As well as international students studying in Sunderland, the University delivers a range of programmes abroad. For example, we run pharmacy degrees in Malaysia, and were the first UK University given a license to offer a range of courses in Vietnam.

The University delivers programmes to professionals abroad, running courses in organisations such as the Liuzhou City Government in China.
