Within the Faculty of Applied Sciences we have an extensive range of centres providing expert training, advice and partnership-based research projects in a variety of sectors.
AMAP. The Institute for Automotive and Manufacturing Advanced Practice (AMAP) is a research and reach out centre providing assistance to industry. The centre has five main areas of activity:

- Advanced Maintenance
- Human Factors
- Logistics
The Centre for Environmental Informatics conducts international research into social and environmental accountability in the public and private sectors.
chemiSPEC As part of the University's Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biomedical Sciences, chemiSPEC provides a range of pharmaceutical, fine chemical and materials analysis which is unique in the region and among the most technologically advanced in the UK.
The Centre for Primary and Community Care conducts high quality research, drawing on a wide range of disciplines through collaborative academic partnerships. Our primary research focus is in clinical care, health and social care and quality improvement with specific expertise in a range of primary care, mental health and community-based interventions for public health.
