Student Achievement Rewards (StAR)

Are you a high calibre student looking to enroll on an undergraduate engineering course in September 2015?

Are you interested in a £1,000 bursary to support your academic ambitions?

If so, the University of Sunderland may be able to offer you an exciting opportunity.

The Department of Computing, Engineering and Technology will reward one high flying applicant with a bursary of £1000. The bursary is available to those students enrolling on the following courses - BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering, BEng (Hons) Automotive Engineering or BEng (Hons) Electronic and Electrical Engineering in September 2015. Students must be a UK resident, aged under 25 and living in the North East region (this includes Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, County Durham and Cleveland) on 1 September 2015. The bursary will be allocated to the Level 1 entrants with the highest entry qualifications.*

This bursary is not means-tested and you don't have to pay it back. It will be paid in addition to any other University of Sunderland bursary or scholarship to which you are entitled to. You do not need to make a separate application; we will consider all students who fit the criteria once enrolled on the programme. The payment will be made in one instalment in the second term of your first academic year.

Are you a high calibre student currently studying one of our 3-year undergraduate engineering courses?

Are you interested in a bursary to support your current studies?

We will also be awarding prizes to Level 1 engineering students enrolled on the above courses who achieve the best assessment grades during the first year of study. Again students must be a UK resident, aged under 25 and living in the North East region (this includes Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, County Durham and Cleveland). This award is based on a weighted average of the marks of all Level 1 modules but won't be paid until you return and have re-registered for the next academic year. The prizes are:

First Prize £800
Second Prize £600
Third Prize £400
