Systems Engineering
The SysEng group emerged from the School's previous Software Engineering and Information Systems areas.
It focuses around an applied socio-technical approach to systems, studying both the technical and theoretical elements of Software Engineering (such as metrics and cognitive learning) and the contextual aspects (such as risk assessment of systems in organisations and process improvement).
Work spans from management of concept design of large complex systems in marine, defense and nuclear to healthcare and manufacturing. Research in process improvement resulted in the formation of the PISO unit which integrates applied research and knowledge transfer activities.
