Charles has a vast amount of experience in industrial marketing management, market research, and marketing strategy. His research lies in the area of marketing communications, and developments in higher education. Before entering the University sector had experience in the following businesses – building society, petrol retailing industry, and car industry. Awarded Institute of Marketing Overseas scholarship to work with IBM in U.S.A. Experience working in the following universities – Sheffield Hallam University and Open University – mainly working in postgraduate education and external work with a range of businesses. At Sunderland University done a wide range of work - Team Leader, Programme leader, Retention Officer, Managed KTPS, External Examiner, and Research Supervision.
