Derek Harwood is the current module leader for level 3 corporate strategy and strategic management. Derek is also the centre leader for undergraduate and postgraduate programme delivery to partners in Malaysia: programme leader for postgraduate MA International Management. His research interests have a particular focus upon small and medium sized enterprises(SMEs), and business strategy including shareholding, executive board structures and power structures.
Prior to joining higher education, Derek worked as a consultant, mentoring managing directors from £50K to £12 million turnover in Business improvement / development programmes; Mentoring spinout activities at Newcastle University and Northumbria University. Derek has also been an Ex-Shareholder and Director of a £2 million turnover manufacturing company.
