Teresa Leopold is the current programme leader for our BA (Hons) Events Management programme and is involved in the running and teaching of Tourism and Event Studies modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Upon completing her Masters and PhD at the University of Otago in New Zealand, she worked at Liverpool John Moores until joining the University of Sunderland in 2010. Her research interests span from socio-cultural aspects of events and festivals to the political economy of tourist migration and power relations within the social construction of communities. In addition, she is interested in the pedagogic development of the event and tourism curricula with particular focus given to the concept of critical thinking in academia.
