Introduction

The new MA World Literatures has been designed as a distance learning programme which offers a comparative study of world literatures, incorporating in its core aims the most recent critical perspectives on a variety of contemporary literary issues in the context of twenty-first century globalisation.

The method of delivery takes advantage of a variety of advanced virtual learning techniques which aim to give students the feel of on-campus contact with the flexibility and convenience of distant access.

The core module will familiarise students with varied critical approaches to inter-cultural literary studies, including comparative literary studies and the most current thinking in the area of postcolonial theory.

The concept of national literatures will also be addressed, with students having an opportunity to bring a knowledge and understanding of their own culture and literature to the material studied.
