Biography

Anne is a lecturer and also practice learning co-ordinator for social work placements on the BA (Hons) Social Work Programme.

Anne has had substantial social work experience primarily within local authorities, firstly in residential care and education welfare pre qualifying and then post qualifying within fieldwork settings.  Anne completed her CQSW at Goldsmiths College London University in 1986.  After qualifying she has worked in fieldwork settings in area or community based teams. She has worked within the areas of mental health, childcare, elders with the main focus of her work within disability.

Her work has been within disadvantaged, inner city, and multi-cultural settings, which have spanned a wide range of academic and practice disciplines.

Anne completed her Practice Teachers Award in 1995 and has considerable experience of supporting and assessing learners in a range of social work settings from a number of programmes within the area.  More recently Anne has worked as a manager within performance development within a large local authority.  Here Anne has been lead for work force planning, managing all aspects of professional development and qualification pathways and managed a team of off site practice assessors.

In 2005 Anne completed a MA Education and undertook research related to practice assessment, supervision and barriers to learning within the assessment of social work students and within the post qualifying arena.

Research Interests

Learning disability, work with adults, work with women, ethical issues , therapeutic approaches in practice, practice education and adult learning in practice situations.

Selected Publications

In Anne's role as a manager within performance development she participated in the developing of the social work degree and has participated on a regional basis in relation to developments within post qualifying teaching and training and workforce development.

In Anne's current role as practice learning co-ordinator she works throughout the North East with agencies from the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors to develop practice placements and support practice educators within their role.

Anne is also the programme leader for the Practice Educators modules for Practice Educators at post qualifying level.
