Biography
Having been trained by Leslie Button in Swansea University I began my youth and community career in Plymouth in 1974, managing and devising a new youth programme in the inner city centre. I moved into issue based work with girls in Sheffield Youth Service in 1979 and from there into middle management in Newcastle City's Youth Service1984. In 1988 I then moved from volunteer status to employed post with an international charity based in London and New York and developed their education and campaigning programmes for ending hunger on the planet.
In 1999 I started my own business based in the North East running training, research and consultancy for People centred organisations. I began my career with Sunderland University in 2002 delivering the new Connexions Diploma training and have since become part of the team of senior lecturers delivering the BA honours in Community and Youth Studies in the Faculty of Education and Society, programme leader for the Foundation Degree in Working with Young People and tutor on the Careers Guidance MA Programme.

Equity and diversity, Group work, Supervision, Historical Development of Youth and Community Service, Community and Youth Practice Placement, Work Based Practice.
Research Interests
Equality in Practice issues especially Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Queer Community and Women, Innovations for change especially Solution Focused Practice, Developing Collaborative Programmes especially FD Programmes.
