Biography
Jacqui is currently Senior Lecturer in Social Policy and teaches primarily on the BSc Health & Social Care degree. Her background is in the sociology of health & illness. Before this she taught on the Community Health degree and was Programme leader for the diplomas in Drug & Alcohol Studies at the University. Before working in higher education Jacqui worked for Northumberland Health Education in Research and Evaluation after graduating from Edinburgh University with a Masters degree in Health Promotion & Health Education.
Teaching Areas
Jacqui's teaching interests include social and health inequalities, substance use and society, reproductive health and life course approaches to the sociology of health and illness, including psychosocial perspectives on health and wellbeing.
Research Interests
Substance use and misuse, social exclusion and community cohesion, reproductive health, motherhood and mental health and illness.
