Biography

After completing my degree in Ancient and Medieval History, I trained as an archivist and worked for several years in county record offices.  Part of my role was to develop and lead activities relating to local history for children and young people and it was during the course of this experience that I found my vocation for teaching. I went on to complete a PGCE (3-7 years) in 1991 and worked as a class teacher before taking up a post in the university.  I contributed to both primary education and Childhood Studies before becoming team leader for Childhood Studies in 2007.  I am also lead assessor for Early Years Professional Status.

Teaching Areas

Early years care and education, Early Years Professional Status, the primary curriculum.

Research Interests

Transitions within the EYFS, leadership in the early years.
