Biography
Wendy Ingram is Programme Leader and lectures on the BA (Hons) Social Work Programme.
Wendy began her career in Social Work as an unqualified social worker in 1976 before gaining her professional award in 1981 from Southampton University. Her substantial experience in Local Authority Social Work included working with all service user groups, specialising at different times in Child Protection, with Young Offenders and in Mental Health as an Approved Social Worker.
Multi agency and partnership working has been a significant feature of Wendys practice. In the early 80's she was instrumental in developing multi agency, community based resources to meet the needs of children and families in the North of Sunderland. As a Community Worker, Wendy worked with the Bangladeshi Community in Sunderland and in partnership with the TUC undertook research into the experiences of this community.
After moving into training within a Local Authority Wendy developed and managed an NVQ Assessment Centre and delivered a comprehensive range of in-service courses, including the CCETSW accredited Approved Social Worker programme. Wendy went on to become the Staff Development Manager within the Local Authority.
After working with partners in the North East to establish the Post Qualifying Consortium and framework for awards Wendy went on to manage the Consortium.
As an independent trainer and consultant Wendy taught social workers regionally and nationally at qualifying and post qualifying level. She worked with a number of authorities in the region to develop systems for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults and approaches to working with risk.
Prior to joining the Social Work programme in 2007 Wendy had a joint appointment with a local authority and PCT to co-ordinate locality based, multi- agency and multi professional Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Training. This included developing and delivering training programmes for service users and carers to enable them to contribute to training practitioners and evaluating services.
