English Language and Literature
Detailed information on research in English can be found by clicking here.
Research in English has evolved into three main groupings, which impact positively on both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. We have run MAs in 'Restoration to Romanticism' and 'World Literatures', for example, based on staff research interests, which have yielded a number of doctoral students. The groupings are as follows:
Postmodernism and Postcolonialism
English staff are expected to promote their research both nationally and internationally, and have over the current RAE cycle given papers throughout Europe (including at the universities of Le Mans, Gothenburg, Wittenberg, Valencia, Lisbon, Groningen, Helsinki, and Trinity College, Dublin); North America (including Tulane University; Fordham University; Toronto University); Morocco (Mohammed I University, Oujda); India (University of Delhi); as well as in the UK (major conferences such as BARS and BSECS).
