Transferable Skills
The development, opportunities to demonstrate and assessment of generic transferable skills, are integrated into your Combined Subjects Programme.
"Transferable skills" are simply the generic skills that you need for effective working and learning. They are common to all subject areas, and are applicable to industry.
The transferable skills that you will be given opportunities to develop are:
- Managing and developing self
- Problem solving
- Communication
- Working as a team member
- Using basic Information Technology skills
- Applying a basic level of numeracy
Assessment of transferable skills will be included in module assessments. Obviously, modules will address those skills that are appropriate to their content and so you may find that the modules you are studying do not address the full range of transferable skills. This is to be expected. If this is the case and you wish to be assessed in the full range of transferable skills, you will be provided with opportunities for this through the Generic Skills modules that are offered across the University.
If you wish to develop and record your transferable skills, you will be given the opportunity to build a portfolio of evidence from work completed within your modules of study through your CSP core modules (CSP110/210).
Guidance and support in identifying and filling gaps will be available from the Combined Subjects academic team on your request.
