Accommodation

When you receive your offer letter, you will have your Student ID (also called student registration) which you can use to apply for your accommodation at the University of Sunderland.

The University of Sunderland has a range of modern, purpose built accommodation for students, all located within 1.5 miles of Sunderland town centre. The accommodation map shows the location of the five different accommodation centres.

If you are coming for one semester only, you will be offered a one semester accommodation contract.

What to do next

  • Have a look at the Accommodation Table. This will give you a quick guide to the accommodation options available to you.
  • Visit the Accommodation website to find out about the different halls of residence. Most of our incoming Study Abroad and Exchange students are placed in Clanny House as it is within walking distance of City Campus.
  • Using your Student ID number provided in your offer letter, you can Apply Online for accommodation. Please note that all accommodation has to be pre-booked, we do not organise this for you.

When should I arrive?

Accommodation is usually available from a few days before term begins. This will be confirmed in your accommodation contract. If you need to arrive before this date, you should contact the accommodation office as soon as possible to see if they can allow you to move into your accommodation any earlier.
