Our three week Summer Programmes are designed to be interactive, informative and fun.  Each programme offers class room based teaching, delivered by our knowledgeable and experienced tutors alongside fieldtrips to enhance your learning experience.  The programme will end with an exhibition to showcase the work produced during the course of the three weeks.

You can choose to study one of the following subject areas:
Creative Arts
Media - TV and Radio
Performing Arts

Orientation
You will receive an orientation session to introduce you to the University and the City.  This will include campus and City tours and an introduction to all of the services available at the University, making your stay as comfortable as possible.

Fieldtrips
As part of the curriculum, fieldtrips are designed to give you ideas for your practical project.  A visit to Hadrian's Wall to find out how the Romans lived, a trip to Alnwick Castle dating from the 11th Century, which also featured as Hogwarts in Harry Potter, or a day out to a local art gallery are just some of the things that may be included in the course.

Assessment and Credits
Assessment will be in the form of a practical project and presentation.  On successful completion of the course you will be awarded 15 University of Sunderland credits which is equivalent to 7.5 ECTS or 3-4 US credit hours.  You will receive a transcript of academic achievement that you can take back to your home university.

Social Events
Included in the course will be:A welcome meal so you can get to know your tutors and fellow students.Day trips to places such as York, Edinburgh and DurhamEvening activities such as a trip to the cinema, theatre or ten-pin bowlingA farewell meal before saying goodbye to Sunderland and your new friends.

Accommodation
You will be housed in single study bedroom in a University Halls of Residence for 21 nights starting from Saturday 2 July. You will share kitchen and bathroom facilities with fellow students.  Heating, electricity, all bedding and WiFi Internet access are included in the cost.  The kitchen is fully equipped so that you can prepare a fully cooked meal or a light snack.

The Cost
The total cost is £1795 for the three week programme and should be paid in full when you accept an offer of a place.  Please check here for a list of what is included in the cost.  Special rates for group bookings are available, contact us for more information.

Entry Requirements
You must have completed at least one year of university level study, in any discipline, when the course begins.  You must submit the following documents by 19th May 2011:

 - A completed application form  Creative Arts Application,  Media Application Form, Performing Arts Application Form
 - An official university transcript
 - An academic reference from someone who has taught you at university or college
 - If English is not your first language, please include evidence of language qualifications.  We require a minimum IELTS score of   6.0 or equivalent.
