What is Study Abroad and Exchange?
The Study Abroad and Exchange programme allows you to study for one or two semesters of your second year at one of our exchange partners. The time you spend abroad replaces the time you would have spent in Sunderland so there is no need to extend your studies!
The Essential Principles of the Study Abroad and Exchange Programme
- You will be studying an agreed programme of courses alongside students in your host country and undergoing the same assessments. Your time spent abroad replaces the part of your degree programme at the University of Sunderland and so you are required to complete the work and attend lectures in the same way that you are here at Sunderland. The credit gained from the time spent abroad will be transferred back to your records in Sunderland.
- You will continue to be officially registered as a student of the University of Sunderland during your time abroad.
- You tuition fees will still be payable to the University of Sunderland. There will be no tuition fees payable to the host university.
- You will still be eligible for a Student Loan and access to the University Hardship Fund will not be affected.
- The Study Abroad Team at the University of Sunderland will assist you with your application and guide you through the process.
