Safety first as trio land new careers

TWO NORTH-EAST graduates are celebrating after securing employment with an environmental and health and safety specialist organisation.
Cedrec Information Systems have been providing organisations with help and advice on health, safety and environmental compliance since 1994 and since then they have expanded greatly over the years and today offer a range of consultancy services including legislation compliance reviews and desk research.

Expansion of the business has resulted in the creation of two new posts, as well as the decision to convert an apprenticeship into a permanent position.
Leanne Burke (23) from Hetton-le-Hole has been appointed as an Environment and Health & Safety consultant, after completing a masters in Environment and Health & Safety at the University of Sunderland.
Another graduate, Dainee Brown (25) has joined the team as Marketing Officer after successfully completing a BA Hons in Business & Marketing Management at theUniversityofSunderland, for which she gained a first class honours. Both Leanne and Dainee were recruited through the University of Sunderland.
In addition to Leanne and Dainee, the Wearside firm has also appointed former St. Anthony’s pupil, Amber Dennis (18). Amber who originally joined the firm as a Business Administration Apprentice, in April this year was given a permanent role earlier this month.
Cedrec have also previously recruited legal writers Erin Shaw and Stephen Pearson throughNorthumbriaandNewcastleUniversity’s internship scheme.
Steven Armstrong, director said: ‘We have a really good relationship with the local universities and have been able to recruit some exceptional individuals through their recruitment programmes. Likewise, local training providers offer some superb apprenticeship programmes and are a viable alternative to full time studying for young people looking to start their careers. All three members of staff have impressed us with their enthusiasm and positive attitudes, and I am delighted to welcome them all to the team’.
