Two successful sculptors are returning to Sunderland this week - and they're bringing Christmas with them
Mat Chaloner and Mat Foster own and run Glacial Arts, an internationally successful ice sculpture business based in Liverpool. The two Mats have worked on James Bond film, Die Another Day, created sculptures for Quentin Tarantino, and only last week created a monumental sculpture for the MTV Europe Awards.
This Sunday (November 16) the University of Sunderland Modelmaking and Design graduates return to Sunderland as part of the city’s Yuletide Wishes celebrations. They will be in Sunniside Gardens from 10am creating ice sculptures to launch Sunderland’s Christmas celebrations – some of which will be over 3 metres high.
Mat Foster said: “We did a sculpture for the MTV awards last week and got free VIP tickets and our names on the guest list to the after show party. We might not be making millions yet - but the perks are certainly fun!
“Everything is going well for us and Glacial Art is really building a reputation now. We are both really looking forward to being in Sunderland again.”
