Participation of staff who are employed by the NHS in research projects no longer trigger ethical review by NRES.

Following a lengthy period of consultation with stakeholders in the social care sector the Department of Health has asked SCIE to appoint a new national Social Care Research Ethics Committee (SCREC).  The launch of the committee took place in June 2009.  The Committee will operate within the framework of the National Research Ethics Service (NRES).
