Higher Doctorates
The Higher Doctorates awarded by the University of Sunderland are:
- Doctor of Letters (DLitt)
- Doctor of Science (DSc)
- Doctor of Technology (DTech)
- Doctor of Law (LLD)
The work submitted should be of high standard and constitute an original, and significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge or to the application of knowledge or to both. It should establish that the applicant is a leading authority in the field(s) of study concerned.

To Apply please download and complete the Application Form for a Higher Doctorate
Return the application form to:
Graduate Reasearch Support Office, Room 218, 2nd Floor, Edinburgh Building, City Campus, Chester Road, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, SR1 3SD, United Kingdom.

The form will be forwarded to the Dean of the appropriate Faculty and the Chair of the Postgraduate Research Degrees Sub-Committee to investigate whether the application can be accepted.
