Decision Support Systems
Decision Support Systems research areas concentrate on using computing to make better decisions in a complex, global world. There are three major areas:
- Bayesian Analysis
- Simulation
- Instructional design.
This has attracted 12 self funded PhD students, with 6 graduating during this RAE period.
One PhD student funded by a BT award has applied Cybernetics to the war between the Tamil Tigers and the Sri Lankan government, which has been discussed by the President and Cabinet of Sri Lanka. Six major Tempus grants have brought several distinguished visitors to our university.
The DSS group continues the work of Stafford Beer, our visiting professor who died early in this RAE period.
