Sporting life
As you might expect from a university with such a good reputation in Sports Science, the sport facilities at the University of Sunderland are world-class.
The newest addition to our sport facilities is CitySpace, a £12m sports and recreation facility which opened in 2009. CitySpace boasts a six-badminton court sports hall, 70 station fitness suite, sports massage and injuries centre, indoor climbing wall and cafe/restaurant.
CitySpace is proving to be a strong addition to the University's support for world athletes: the centre has been chosen as a Pre-Olympic Training Provider for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Institute of Sport
Coordinating the delivery of sport and recreation facilities is the University of Sunderland's Institute of Sport, a dedicated service committed to supporting all sports provision at Sunderland, from complete beginners to professional athletes.
Visit the Institute of Sport website to see a full range of the sports activities available at the University of Sunderland.
