From time to time, even the most confident people may need someone with a smile to lend an ear and listen to them.
And that’s what our free and confidential counselling service provides to any student who needs it. We have a team of counsellors available to speak with students and offer advice on topics ranging from exam worries to coping with bereavement to anxiety.
Counselling offers the opportunity to be listened to in a controlled environment, allowing you to discuss and work out ways around the issues and difficulties you are having.
When you might seek counselling
There are a variety of reasons that you may seek to speak to a counsellor. Some students feel isolated without anyone to talk to, while others have people around them to speak to but prefer to talk confidentially about distressing material to not burden loved ones and friends.
Many students find that counselling sessions can be particularly helpful when the issues troubling them start to affect their everyday life.
Counselling can help students to find ways of resolving or coping with these issues. It can also help you to gain a greater understanding of your issues, to develop strategies and techniques to cope and also provide insight from a different perspective.
With all this and the further help of our counsellors, we can help you to move on in your life.
Our Counselling team is based in the Edinburgh Building at the City Campus. To arrange an appointment either email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Student Support Reception on 0191 515 2933.
