Course overview
This course allows you to benefit from Sunderland’s excellence in the teaching of tourism without leaving your home region or country.
The content of the course mirrors the Sunderland-based equivalent course: International Tourism and Hospitality Management (Top-Up).
Sunderland is particularly strong in tourism, with the department not only being ranked fourth in the UK by The Guardian in 2011, but also with staff research being graded as ‘world-leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’ in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.
Courses delivered at study centres share the same ethos, material and approach as those delivered at Sunderland itself. So this course is an outstanding way to gain the benefits of an education from our University without having to move to Sunderland.
This particular course allows you to top a Foundation Degree to a full honours degree with just one more year of study. It follows on naturally from our Foundation Degree in Travel and Tourism, which is also delivered through study centres.
Recent graduates from our tourism courses have gone on to positions within major tourism companies, economic development agencies, tourism development bodies and local authorities. There are also opportunities in regional and national government. Plus, you'll be equipped for many positions in the wider service sector and for moving on to postgraduate research.
