The University of Sunderland is particularly strong in tourism. The department not only being ranked fourth in the country by The Guardian in 2011, but also with some of our research being graded as ‘world-leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’ in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

Tourism has been described as the world's biggest single industry and it accounts for millions of jobs worldwide. Many of our graduates, equipped with specialist knowledge as well as transferable life-long skills, go on to work in managerial roles within the tourism and hospitality industry.
