Course overview

This course is designed to top-up a Foundation Degree in Counselling to a full honours degree. Many people on the course will have completed a Foundation Degree at our partner colleges; we also welcome applications from people with equivalent qualifications from elsewhere.

Teaching on this part-time course is concentrated into one full day a week. There may be additional half days when you will need to attend. The part-time mode allows you to combine study with practical work.

We support you in developing the level of professionalism that is part of the Government's agenda for counselling. You will develop both personally and professionally as you explore important issues in current counselling practice.

The course is delivered by Sunderland’s Psychology Department, which has been the highest rated in the North East of England for overall student satisfaction, according to National Student Surveys in 2009, 2010 and 2011. With such a consistent record, you can have great confidence in the quality of our courses.
