Combined Subjects
What is Combined Subjects?
The Combined Subjects programme allows you to study two subjects at degree level instead of one.
Sunderland offers an extensive range of subjects that can be combined as either major-minor (two subjects with an emphasis on one of them), or dual (two subjects combined on an equal basis).
The graduate job market is increasingly competitive, and so graduates with a broad range of skills and subject knowledge are very attractive to employers.
Why Sunderland for Combined Subjects?
- Choice of over 30 subjects
- Flexibility to change the balance of subjects
- Tailor-made degrees
The University of Sunderland offers around 30 subjects which can be combined in a variety of different ways to create programmes tailored to the diverse and demanding needs of today's graduates and their employers.
Combined Subjects is normally a three year programme, but you can take four years if you wish to take a year out to work in industry. There is flexibility within the programme and usually in the first year you are able to change the balance of studies.
You may also have the opportunity to choose a module each year, in a different subject to your chosen two. Many students opt to take a modern language, develop their skills in e-learning or pick from a variety of modules in other subject areas.
The Combined Subjects programme offers a unique flexibility, which allows students to combine complementary or diverse subject disciplines in line with their particular interests.
