Combined Subjects combinations
If you choose to study two subjects you can do so as a major/minor combination, or as a dual combination.
Major/minor combination
A major/minor combination involves taking approximately two thirds of your credits on the major subject, and one third on the minor subject.
Examples of major/minor combinations:
- BA (Hons) English with History
- BSc (Hons) Psychology with Sociology
Dual combination
A dual combination involves taking equal number of credits in both subjects.
Examples of dual combinations:
- BA (Hons) Politics and History
- BSc (Hons) Psychology and Criminology
If you take a dual combination with one subject that is a BA and one which is a BSc, the award of a BA or BSc is determined by the subject in which you complete your final project or dissertation.

Not all subjects can be combined. Combinations are not possible between:
- Childhood Studies and Education
- Community Music and Music
- Drama and English
- Journalism and Media Studies
- Public Relations and Media Studies
