The University of Sunderland supports a Digital First strategy which introduces technology that gives us an opportunity to behave in a more environmentally responsible manner.
Digital First is good for the environment as well as offering well-being and economic benefits. It will give us location independent working so that staff and students can work anywhere through our digitised operations.
Digital First discourages the use of paper and changes the culture and behaviours around using paper through the better use of technology. Staff and students working from home or other locations have greater flexibility and low carbon impacts.
Environmental benefits of Digital First include:
Going paperless - less trees made into paper
Low carbon - less car journeys when working from home
Energy benefits - less offices to be lit and heated
