Associate Head of School: Accounting and Finance

I moved into higher education from the chartered accountancy profession in the early 1990s and have been involved in the design and delivery of accounting and finance courses and modules throughout my time here.

In addition to teaching, I also lead a team of academics in the area of accounting and finance, facilitating academic development and focusing on enhancing the student experience.

I also chair the Accounting and Finance programme studies board which is responsible for the oversight of all accounting and finance undergraduate and postgraduate courses covering design, delivery, and assessment.



Teaching and supervision

I have led and delivered a range of accounting and finance modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level covering financial and management accounting, auditing, corporate finance, and quantitative methods.

In addition, I have led BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance and MSc Finance and Management.

Research interests for potential research students

Stakeholder theory in accounting and finance.

Research

My area of research concerns the application of stakeholder theory in higher education and the viability of multi-creationism in the development of higher education programmes.

I am a qualified chartered accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

My expertise lies in the accounting profession and the numerous disciplines that are attached to it including international financial reporting and the laws and standards which underpin them, strategic management accounting, the internal financial decision-making of organisations, and the theories and practice of corporate finance for large companies.
