I am a Health and Care Professions Council registered Biomedical Scientist with 12 years experience in the National Health Service in laboratory medicine. My experience and interests lie specifically in the areas of Clinical Microbiology, Infection Prevention and Control and Near Patient Testing. My continued professional practice with Newcastle Upon Tyne NHS Foundation Hospitals allows me to engage with clinically and professionally relevant research and feed this into my teaching.
I teach and supervise within the School of Nursing and Health Sciences in the specialist areas of clinical microbiology, infection prevention and control near patient testing and clinical professional practice.
I am Programme Leader for BSc (Hons) Healthcare Sciences (Life Sciences) and module lead for work-based learning modules within this programme.
I am academic lead for employability and student work-based placements within the BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science and Healthcare Science (Life Sciences) suite of programmes.
