Lecturer in Business and Tourism

I am a Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Education and Society. I am currently leading the Integrated Foundation Year for Business and Tourism. Prior to this, I was working within the department of Hospitality, Events, Aviation and Tourism holding the position of module leader for Study Skills, Impacts of Events, Marketing for the Service Sector and Urban Tourism.

My background is in the operations of major hotel chains, including Marriott Hotels. I worked for Marriott in the North East of England for 15 years, working across many of the departments from junior to managerial roles.

My degree is in Tourism Management and my postgraduate degree is in Hospitality Management.

Teaching and supervision

I am the Module Leader for FDN005, which is the core module for IFY Business and Tourism. Deputy Programme Leader for Study Abroad and Exchange Scheme. I also teach:
  • FD012 – Essential Study Skills, 
  • FDN002 – Foundation Project module and
  • Supervise Stage 3 projects under HEAT modules within FBLT.

My 15 years’ experience in the hospitality industry along with my 12 years of professional practice in higher education complement each other, thus giving an accurate and true reflection within the classroom environment of theory put into practice.
