Lecturer in Law

I graduated from the University of Sunderland in 2010 with my LLB. I went on to study my LLM in Human Rights and graduated in 2011 with a Distinction. I joined the University as a Postgraduate Academic Assistant in 2013.

In 2015 after completion of my Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching, I joined the Faculty of Business, Law and Tourism in a lecturing post.

I am currently a PhD candidate at Manchester Metropolitan University. My PhD thesis is on the legal regulation of football spectatorship in England and Wales. 

Teaching and supervision

I am currently Programme Leader for the suite of academic LLM courses. I am Module Leader for:

  • LAW122 Public Law and the Law of the European Union
  • LAW307 Research Dissertation
  • LAW317 Law of Succession
  • LAW327 Sports Law
  • LAWM39 Advanced Legal Skills
  • LAWM40 International Perspectives in Law

I supervise a range of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and dissertations on areas such as Sports Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Human Rights Law and Public Order Law.

Research

I am currently undertaking a part-time PhD in Sports Law which is focused on the legal regulation of football spectatorship in England and Wales. My PhD has particular focus on the Football Spectators Act 1989 and the use of Football Banning Orders.

I am also co-convenor of the Sports Law stream for the Socio-Legal Studies Association.
